For the purposes of Family Law Act family violence is defined in Section 4AB(1) and means violent, threatening or other behaviour by a person that coerces or controls a member of the person’s family or causes the family member to be fearful.  Family Violence can include things like damaging or destroying property, causing death or injury to an animal, unreasonably withholding financial support or preventing a family member from making or keeping connections with his/her family, friends of culture.
