Stephanie Charlesworth is qualified in law and social work. She has a background
in university teaching and has written extensively in the areas of legal practice
in family and children’s matters, and the giving of expert evidence by social workers.
Stephanie has prepared and taught courses for lawyers and associated professionals
in dispute resolution in several Australian States, and also in Canada, the United
States, France, and Belgium.
Stephanie has been the principal mediator at Carew Counsel for 20 years and currently
specializes in forestalling and, if necessary, settling legal disputes that can
arise for elderly people and their families. Such disputes, for instance, can include
will preparation where special provision must be made for adult dependent children;
where capacity of an elderly person to manage their finances is creating difficulties
for themselves or others; or where carers cannot agree among themselves about what
course of action is in the best interests of the elderly person concerned.
